Why Energy Equipment Needs Its Own Checks
A pump that leaks at the seal, a generator that will not hold its rated output or a panel wired differently from the drawing looks finished in the factory — and only fails once it is installed and commissioned.
Oil, gas and power equipment is expensive, often built to order and hard to replace once it is on site, so a fault found at commissioning can stop a whole project. Many risks are hidden inside the finished unit: the wrong material or component, an assembly or alignment error, wiring that does not match the drawing, or a performance test that was never properly run. Each unit has to be checked against your purchase order, the approved datasheets and drawings, the referenced standards and its test records, and where the order requires it, its factory tests witnessed. An on-site inspection does that at the factory, before the equipment is preserved, crated and shipped.
Every Equipment Type, Its Own Checklist
A centrifugal pump, a generator set and a switchgear panel are built and fail in different ways. Our inspectors work to the checklist that matches what you are actually buying.
- Casing and impeller condition
- Shaft alignment and coupling
- Seal condition and leak check
- Performance and vibration test records
- Assembly and mounting
- Load test results or witnessing
- Control panel and protection functions
- Fuel, cooling and exhaust connections
- Wiring and terminations against drawings
- Electrical routine test records
- Earthing and insulation
- Nameplate and rating data
- Overall dimensions and interfaces
- Piping, valves and instrument installation
- Electrical and instrument wiring
- Painting, tagging and preservation
What We Check
Every inspection is set up against your purchase order, the approved datasheets and drawings and the referenced standards. A typical oil, gas and power equipment checklist covers:
-
Documents and materials certificates, datasheets and component lists checked against the order
-
Dimensions and interfaces overall dimensions, nozzle and flange connections, mounting and lifting points
-
Assembly and workmanship fasteners, alignment, welding, piping and cable routing
-
Function and performance tests running, load or performance tests witnessed or records reviewed, where the order requires it
-
Electrical checks wiring, terminations and earthing against the drawings, with insulation test records reviewed
-
Instruments and controls gauges, sensors and control panels installed and working as specified
-
Nameplates and tagging rating data, serial numbers and equipment tags on every unit
-
Preservation and packing painting, flange covers, desiccant, crating and lifting instructions
Whether you need a one-off pre-shipment check or oversight across a full equipment package, we build the checklist around your purchase order and the standards it references.
Defects We Catch Before the Order Ships
These are the findings that most often turn into commissioning delays, warranty claims or rejected equipment when nobody looks before shipment.
-
Components or materials that do not match the datasheet or certificate
-
Interface dimensions or connections outside the drawing
-
Misalignment, loose fasteners or poor assembly
-
Leaks at seals, joints or connections during testing
-
Performance or load test results below the rated values
-
Wiring that does not match the drawing, or poor terminations
-
Missing or damaged instruments, or no valid calibration certificates
-
Missing or incorrect nameplate data and equipment tags
-
Missing flange covers, poor preservation or inadequate crating
Which Inspection Stage Do You Need?
Assembly and wiring problems are cheapest to fix before the equipment is tested and painted. Most buyers combine two or more of these across a production run.
