Why Home Textiles Need Their Own Inspection

A loose seam or a shade mismatch inside a poly bag is invisible until the set is unpacked at home — by then it is a return, not a fix.

Home textiles are sold as sets and as soft goods people touch every day, so a fault that would be minor on its own — a crooked hem, a thin patch of filling, a shade that drifts between pieces — reads as a defective product once it is out of the packaging. Thread count, seam strength, colourfastness and fill weight all have to hold up to the specification and the approved sample, not just look right folded on a shelf. An on-site inspection checks the finished, packed goods against your specification before the order ships, so a problem is caught at the factory, not in a customer’s return box.

Every Home Textile Category, Its Own Checklist

A fitted sheet set and a terry towel fail in completely different ways. Our inspectors work to the checklist that matches what you are actually making.

  • Zip, button and tie closures
Curtains and Drapery
Curtains, blackout linings and voiles
  • Panel width, drop and hem straightness
  • Header tape, grommets and rings
  • Lining attachment and drape
  • Light-blocking and colour consistency
Towelling
Bath, hand and beach towels
  • GSM and pile density
  • Absorbency
  • Border and hem stitching
  • Shedding and colour bleed
Table Linen
Tablecloths, runners and napkins
  • Hem and mitred corner finish
  • Stain resistance and coating (where specified)
  • Print and embroidery alignment
  • Size and shrinkage tolerance

What We Check

Every inspection is set up against your own specification and approved sample. A typical home textile checklist covers:

  • Thread count and fabric weight against the approved specification
  • Seam, hem and mitred-corner stitching quality
  • Colour match to the approved swatch under standard light
  • Shrinkage and dimensional stability after wash
  • Fill weight and distribution on duvets, comforters and cushions
  • Zips, buttons, ties and other closures
  • Labelling, care labels and carton markings
  • Set completeness, folding and packing against the packing list

Whether you need a one-off pre-shipment check or ongoing oversight across a home textile programme, we build the checklist around your specification and your buyer’s standards.

Defects We Catch Before the Order Ships

These are the findings that most often turn into returns, rework or a rejected shipment when nobody looks before packing.

  • Crooked, loose or skipped stitching on seams and hems
  • Shade variation between pieces in the same set
  • Clumped, thin or uneven filling in duvets and cushions
  • Faulty zips, missing buttons or weak ties
  • Print, embroidery or border misalignment
  • Poor absorbency or excessive shedding on towelling
  • Colour bleed or crocking that marks on contact
  • Set incomplete against the packing list
  • Cartons that do not match the labelling or carton markings

Home Textile Inspection FAQ

Everything You Need to Know About Home Textile Inspection

Still unsure about scope or timing? Talk to us — we will tell you what a given order actually needs.

What kinds of home textiles do you inspect?
Bedding sets, curtains and drapery, towelling and table linen. If you are unsure whether your product fits, send us the specification and we will confirm.
Do you verify thread count and GSM?
Yes. We check fabric weight and, where a thread count is specified, verify it against your documentation and flag anything outside tolerance.
How quickly do I get the report?
We provide a quick report the same day as the inspection, and the detailed photo-backed report within the next 24 hours.
How much does a home textile inspection cost?
Most inspections are priced per man-day and depend on product type, quantity, and location. Contact us for a free quote — we confirm pricing and availability within a few hours.
Do you inspect against my own checklist?
Yes. We work to your specification, your approved sample and any buyer-specific requirements. If you do not have a checklist yet, we build one with you before the inspection.
Which countries can you inspect home textiles in?
Our inspectors are based across 25+ sourcing countries in Asia and beyond. Tell us your factory location and we will confirm availability.
