Why Garments Need Their Own Inspection

A crooked seam or a mismatched button is easy to miss on a hanger and impossible to unsee once a customer has it in hand.

A garment is judged against a tech pack and an approved sample down to the millimetre and the shade — measurements, stitching, trims and colour all have to sit inside tolerance across the whole size run, not just on the one piece a supplier chooses to photograph. Most of that cannot be verified from a photo. An on-site inspection measures and grades a statistical sample of the finished, packed garments against your tech pack and approved sample before the order ships, so an off-spec batch is caught at the factory, not in a customer return.

Every Garment Category, Its Own Checklist

A tailored jacket and a printed T-shirt fail in completely different ways. Our inspectors work to the checklist that matches what you are actually making.

What We Check

Every inspection is set up against your tech pack and approved sample. A typical garment checklist covers:

  • Measurements against the size spec, on a sample pulled across the size run
  • Seam, stitch and hem quality
  • Colour match to the approved swatch under standard light
  • Trims and accessories zips, buttons, drawcords and hardware
  • Care labels, fibre content and country-of-origin accuracy
  • Print, embroidery and appliqué placement
  • AQL sampling for shade, stitching and stains across the lot
  • Folding, polybagging and carton packing against the packing list

Whether you need a one-off pre-shipment check or ongoing oversight across a garment programme, we build the checklist around your tech pack and your buyer’s standards.

Defects We Catch Before the Order Ships

These are the findings that most often turn into returns, chargebacks or a rejected shipment when nobody looks before packing.

  • Measurements outside the size spec tolerance
  • Skipped, loose or crooked stitching on seams and hems
  • Shade variation between garments in the same lot
  • Print, embroidery or appliqué out of position
  • Faulty zips, missing buttons or weak snaps
  • Care labels with the wrong fibre content or wash instructions
  • Oil stains, needle holes and loose threads
  • Uneven fill distribution in padded garments
  • Cartons that do not match the labelling or packing list

Garment Inspection FAQ

Everything You Need to Know About Garment Inspection

Still unsure about scope or timing? Talk to us — we will tell you what a given order actually needs.

What kinds of garments do you inspect?
Woven garments, knitwear, outerwear and their trims and accessories. If you are unsure whether your product fits, send us the tech pack and we will confirm.
Do you check measurements across the size run?
Yes. We pull a statistical sample across the size range and measure it against your size spec, not just one piece.
How quickly do I get the report?
We provide a quick report the same day as the inspection, and the detailed photo-backed report within the next 24 hours.
How much does a garment inspection cost?
Most inspections are priced per man-day and depend on product type, quantity, and location. Contact us for a free quote — we confirm pricing and availability within a few hours.
Do you inspect against my own checklist?
Yes. We work to your tech pack, your approved sample and any buyer-specific requirements. If you do not have a checklist yet, we build one with you before the inspection.
Which countries can you inspect garments in?
Our inspectors are based across 25+ sourcing countries in Asia and beyond. Tell us your factory location and we will confirm availability.
